In 1953, three residents of Oakville decided that the community should have a curling rink and acted upon it. The old Victoria Park Arena, which had lain idle for six years, was transformed into a curling arena and on December 10 1954, the Oakville Curling Club was officially opened. Initially, the land was leased from the Town of Oakville and in 1963 the land and buildings became the property of the Oakville Curling Club.

In the early 1990’s, the Board of Directors was faced with an arena over 100 years old and in very poor condition. In 1994, after much deliberation and analysis a new eight sheet arena was constructed. In 1995, about $100,000. was incurred for new equipment. In 2004 we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the club's opening.

Through the years, the Club has played host to many great curling events as well as many social gatherings. Today, the Club continues to be a focal point for the community. With modern facilities, including a much improved ice surface and curling rocks, the Oakville Curling Club hosts major provincial and national events.

The Oakville Curling Club continues to support the community by turning its facilities over to the Big Brothers Organization and the Kiwanis for fund raising. The enthusiasm and spirit that was so evident in 1953 are very much alive today.
